CHEM 311 - Drug Addiction and Recovery


3 credits
The course will introduce the structure-activity relationship of small molecules and how these properties lead to physical dependence. In addition, the course will consider larger psychological and sociological concerns associated with addiction and relapse.  Students will need to integrate knowledge and skills from chemistry, biology, psychology, and sociology to navigate and address the complexities associated with drug addiction and recovery programs. The course expands on the scientific pillar by teaching students to interpret, analyze, and utilize statistical and scientific data from various fields to drive an integrative approach aimed at improving community health.
