ELEM 360 - Literacy Methods for Elementary Learners 3 credits Teacher Candidates explore research-based strategies, technological tools, and resources for teaching literacy methods across elementary grade levels. Teacher Candidates develop their own reading and writing practices and identities as they explore literacy strategies for reading, writing, speaking, and listening within and across disciplines with a particular focus on upper (3-6) elementary learners. Teacher Candidates also administer and analyze literacy assessments, conduct teacher research, and design evidence-based lesson plans that focus on disciplinary reading, writing, communication, and research. The successful completion of an embedded field-related experience is required.
Prerequisite(s): ELEM 320 and ELEM 340 , both with a C+ or higher, and admission to Teacher Candidacy Corequisite(s): ELEM 380
