CTZN 327 - Stewardship of Public Waterways 3 credits Stewardship of public waterways and resource management are complex and involve multiple groups including politicians, bureaucrats, community organizations, and concerned citizens each with a specific agenda. This course will focus on a set of challenging and contentious Chesapeake Bay management issues surrounding three key species: menhaden, oysters, and blue crabs. Each of these species will be investigated using a variety of lenses: scientific, political (regulatory), economic, socio-cultural, and aesthetic.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of BIOL 101 , BIOL 114 , CHEM 111 , or ENSC 162 and HBSI Pillar OR Completion of FSRC and HBSI Pillar and permission of instructor Corequisite(s): None
