Built as an Education for the Working Writer, the Creative Writing Concentration offers both workshop and professional preparation for students seeking a program that offers not only the experience and rigor of literature, theory and craft, but also prepares students for using the power of story as a writer in a diverse and international world.

Professional Courses for Creative Writing Students

Students are required to successfully complete the following professionalization course

ENGL 352 - Digital Narrative and Publishing 3 credits

Writing Core Requirements

Required: (5 workshop courses)/15 credit hours: Students must complete three (3) introductory creative writing workshops in different genres and at least two (2) advanced creative writing workshops for a total of fifteen (15) credits. Advanced creative writing workshops may be taken multiple times for credit.
