HPEP 398 - Ethics in the Context of Sport


3 credits
The course is an examination of sport in terms of philosophical issues concerning ethics and moral reasoning.  This course will focus on how people should treat one another in sport settings and, therefore, on a critical examination of ethical issues central to contemporary sport. Students will examine the nature of sport, issues related to competition and fair play, doping and genetic enhancement, gender and sexual equality, and social ethics in sport. Students will be encouraged to develop an ability to make informed ethical choices and decisions relating to issues connected to the culture of sport.

Prerequisite(s): Completion of the FHBS Pillar
