READ 660 - Evaluation and Applied Practicum in Emergent/Early Literacy 3 credits With an emphasis on emergent and early readers, diagnostic assessments will be administered and evaluated for their value in improving literacy instruction. Comprehensive literacy lessons-including the areas of word knowledge (phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, and alphabet), reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing-will be designed and delivered in a field placement (minimum of 20 hours). Both in-class and supervised practicum based experiences are required. Supervisory fee-$25.00 per credit hour.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of at least 6 READ credit hours including READ 620 , or permission of instructor
