MAED 151 - The Teaching of Middle School Mathematics


3 credits
A study of current practices in middle school mathematics teaching, designed for teacher candidates seeking 6-12 licensure.  Students will develop and implement high-quality standards-based mathematics lessons. Students will actively engage in cognitively-demanding mathematical tasks and create rich tasks for middle school mathematics.  Students also will learn how to facilitate mathematical discourse to assess and advance mathematical understanding. Mathematics specific tools and technology will be utilized in the learning and teaching of mathematical concepts.
