HIST 349 - History of the Andes


3 credits
This course examines the history of the Andes from the Inka Empire to the 21st century. Topics include the rise of the Inka state, the conquest of the Andes, silver and exploitation in Potosí, the wars for independence, the Chaco War and the War of the Pacific, the miracle of guano, Sendero Luminoso and other revolutionary movements, contemporary Indigenous movements, coca production and drug trafficking.
