HIST 241 - Colonial Latin America 3 credits. A survey of Latin American history from the pre-Columbian era through independence. Major themes include the evolution of the societies, economies, and religions of Native American peoples; the impact of Spanish and Portuguese conquests, settlement, government, trade and culture upon native civilizations; the influence of African population and culture; and the creole nature of the resulting society in the colonial period.
