The Applied Statistics minor consists of 18 credits in foundational coursework in statistical reasoning and training that is complementary to a wide variety of disciplines. Candidates for this minor are quantitatively inclined students, in any major, who are interested in data collection, organization, analysis, and interpretation. The Applied Statistics minor provides students with concrete skills and analysis tools which can be applied to real world problems in a variety of disciplines including psychology, sociology, business, economics, biology, criminology, environmental science, and many more. Required coursework emphasizes both the statistical techniques and the application of those techniques in authentic situations. Elective coursework allows students to focus on either deeper disciplinary issues specific to them or more general statistical techniques which can be applied broadly.
