SPAN 335 - Hispanic Cinema 3 credits. An introduction to cinema in Spanish, focusing on film as a means of communication and as cultural and artistic expression. Topics may include the history of Spanish and/or Spanish American cinema, great directors, a specific film genre (historical, horror, indigenous, landismo), films and literature, a particular director (Bunuel, Berlanga, Almodovar, Inarritu), or a specific period (dictatorship, “Transicion”). Students will learn the concepts and vocabulary required for describing and analyzing Spanish and Spanish American films.
Prerequisite(s): SPAN 320 or permission of instructor. Corequisite(s): None.
